Popeye was one of Don's first games using his new large sprite idea. His technique allowed massive colourful animations to be used on the Spectrum.
You aim was to demonstrate your love for Olive Oyl by collecting 25 hearts and taking them back to her at her home. While on your Quest, Olive's love, shown by the lovemeter, slowly fades, so you must keep returning to renew her love with hearts. When she has all 25 you will be rewarded!
All of the popeye icons where there, Spinach, Bluto and the Hag. An adventure with a bit of cartoon slapstick. This made up a very playable but tricky game.
